Another win for Hewshott International

Another win for Hewshott International

Following success last year in the same category with the Blavatnik School of Government, Hewshott is delighted to pick up ‘Best Education Project’ in the prestigious AV Magazine AV Awards again for 2017.

This year’s entry, in partnership with systems integrator Reflex, was for the innovative new Science Building at the University of Hertfordshire.

This ground-breaking project was the first full building AV over IP system of its scale in the UK higher education sector.

Removing the large core matrix traditionally used to deliver a building like this, the team was able to remove the restrictions in the number of inputs and outputs that can be accommodated. This approach has ensured that the building will serve the University well over the coming years, absorbing changes in requirements with ease.

A demonstration in teamwork, this project was delivered through close collaboration between client team, consultant, manufacturer, integrator and programmers.

Hewshott provided a full portfolio of services from design and procurement through to project management and testing and commissioning.

Hewshott UK MD Daniel Lee said ‘We are very proud of this project and the team who delivered it. To win an award in this category for the second year running is testament to the great work we’re doing in the higher education sector. Whilst still active in our traditional markets which include corporate and hospitality amongst others, adding higher education as a speciality has presented an opportunity to challenge ourselves in new ways and deliver some amazing projects.’

Adam Harvey, AV and Digital Media Development Manager, said ‘Hewshott not only provide us with additional resources to our project team and act as a ‘sounding board’ for ideas but play an integral part in turning the information obtained from multiple stakeholder meetings into a comprehensive industry standard tender document. We wanted to capture all the stakeholder requirements as well as calling for innovation in system design across the whole building. We achieved this with Hewshott’s help and have selected a top-flight integration partner and exciting future proofed technical solution for our new Science Building”.
