Private school concert hall seeks second opinion
October
2011 – Hewshott International’s Australian office was asked to undertake a peer
review of a large multi-purpose hall that was under construction. The
architects had concerns over the appropriateness of the acoustic performance of
the space, and Hewshott confirmed their suspicions. As the building was
well advanced, some design work was undertaken very quickly to improve the
situation, which was able to be implemented just in time. Additionally,
we were asked to review the speaker system, and have designed a solution that
is a significant departure from the original design using speakers that focus
the sound to the audience only, reducing the effects of the increased
reverberation time that we designed in through the acoustic review. The
client now has a performance venue that enhances performances without the need
for sound reinforcement in most circumstances.
