Having worked with Hewshott before, West Herts College requested Hewshott’s help to design a multi-camera HD TV studio capable of producing professional quality recordings without the expense of a professional studio.
One of the most challenging parts of designing a TV studio is not the specification of the equipment, but the design of the space. The college wanted to section off the studio, as required, allowing two groups of students to use the space simultaneously.
A CCTV camera was installed so that the far end studio could be monitored while the students assembled the sets or designed the lighting layout. A secondary lighting desk was supplied, enabling the two halves of the lighting grid to be controlled independently of one another. The design incorporated the following:
Three high definition cameras
Vision mixer with multi window preview and chroma key facilities
Fully integrated lighting rig
Studio curtain track and cyclorama
HD video recording facility
Video tie-lines to auditorium
