Working with SITE Architecture Studio to design the Forrestfield Library, Digital Hub, and Customer Service Centre, Hewshott prioritised the modernisation of the library experience while ensuring the community’s service needs were met. Embracing technological advancements, the fit-out includes PC hubs, hireable spaces, and an area for pop-up activities and creative installations.

The library features a large divisible multi-function room that serves as a bookable community training and event space. Video conferencing is one of the features of this room, but its intended use is multi-functional, and Hewshott has ensured complete flexibility. In order to offer space flexibility, a screen was installed in the staff room to accommodate impromptu staff meetings when other rooms are already occupied. All rooms are equipped with MS Teams, Zoom, and Webex capabilities.

To enhance children’s learning and entertainment in the space, Hewshott implemented a large touch-enabled screen for interactive engagement. This screen also allows guest speakers, such as storytellers, to connect and use it as a presentation medium.
Hewshott has taken measures to future-proof the library by providing power and data outlets, and facilitating the easy installation of screens after occupation. This approach allows for flexible configurations of screens without causing significant disruptions to the building’s finished structure.
