This year, InfoComm was held in Orlando, Florida – and was pegged as the largest exhibition and conference in North America for the professional AV industry. It provides a fast-paced, dynamic environment bringing together AV, IT and broadcast professionals from around the globe!
InfoComm is vital to Hewshott, as it keeps us at the forefront of AV and technology innovation, strengthens industry relationships, support professional development, and reinforces our position as trusted, independent consultants.
Both Brandon Creel and Dakota Erickson from our US office attended, as well as Daniel Lee from our UK team. They attended several professional development training sessions. Brandon’s favourite was “The Basics of Power and Grounding” presented by the extremely knowledgeable and highly respected Tom Kehr.
Most loudspeaker manufacturers in attendance had listening rooms which were isolated from the exhibit floor. They allowed attendees the opportunity to listen to numerous loudspeakers and compare models and series to one another. Some manufacturers had their full line up; some had selected models and others offered only their newest kit. These rooms are invaluable and don’t get enough promotion!
Dakota’s highlight was putting his ears to work in the audio listening rooms and getting hands on with the products. Dakota, pictured below, shared a few words about his experience in one of the rooms.
The show had 817 exhibitors spanning over 400,000 sf with 30,998 attendees from 97 different countries. There was a LOT to see, and comfortable shoes were a must have!
Getting to and from the show was also an adventure, and part of the fun – from the daily scooter rides to a Pokémon themed Uber! We thoroughly enjoyed meeting with our friends, colleagues, manufacturers, representatives, integrators, and clients.
Someone felt very strongly about Hewshott at ‘Howl at the Moon’ duelling piano bar, including some hashtags on the blackboard! Someone else has Hewshott in their veins with a tattoo of our ‘squiggle’ on their arm – Did you know that Daniel Lee has a Hewshott tattoo?
