Hewshott was engaged to conduct an initial inspection of the theatre, during which a number of safety deficiencies were identified. Many of the existing theatrical systems required frequent maintenance and could only be serviced using specialised lifts, creating ongoing operational risks and inefficiencies. These issues not only affected day‑to‑day use but also posed barriers to student access and staff confidence in the space.

In response, Hewshott designed a complete rigging, curtain, and theatrical lighting solution that significantly improved both safety and performance. The new lighting system was upgraded to a modern, network‑based power and control platform, providing reliable, flexible operation for a wide range of events. House lighting was also enhanced to deliver higher illumination levels appropriate for learning, rehearsals, and general use—ensuring the space could function effectively as both a performance venue and an instructional environment.

Throughout the project, Hewshott was recognised for their attention to detail, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering a theatre that truly met the district’s goals. Once construction was complete, the enhanced Performing Arts Center was unveiled to students, staff, and administrators. The result is a revitalised, fully compliant, and future‑ready theatre that is safer, easier to operate, and better equipped to support the school’s programs for many years to come.
